  • How do I know if therapy is right for me?
Therapy can be beneficial if you’re experiencing emotional challenges, feeling stuck in certain patterns, or simply seeking personal growth. If you’re unsure, consider scheduling an initial consultation where we can discuss your concerns and goals to determine if therapy is a good fit for you.
  • Do you offer in-person or virtual sessions?
I offer both in-person and virtual sessions. You can choose the format that best suits your comfort level and schedule. Virtual sessions are conducted through a HIPPA secure platform.
  • How do I schedule an appointment?
Before scheduling an appointment, I recommend a 15-minute virtual consultation. You can easily book this consultation through my online system on the website. Following our virtual consultation, we can then arrange your initial assessment.
  • What can I expect during my first session?
In our first session, we’ll spend about 60 minutes getting to know each other. I’ll ask questions to understand your current situation, history, and goals for therapy. This initial meeting helps us build a strong foundation for our work together. If, after the assessment, we both agree that we’re a good fit, we’ll discuss the frequency of regular 50-minute sessions based on your needs.
  • What are your fees, and do you accept insurance?
Initial Assessment – 60 minutes - $195 Ongoing Sessions once established as a client – 50 minutes - $165 Ciúin Counseling is out of network with all insurance providers; however, clients can request a Super Bill for potential reimbursement of part or all of the session fee from their insurance company. This option allows you to seek reimbursement based on the amount predetermined by your provider, which may vary between companies. Please note that choosing this method will require a formal diagnosis.
  • What are the benefits to not using insurance?
We believe there are significant benefits to private pay instead of utilizing insurance. First and foremost, private pay allows us to maintain complete confidentiality for our clients. Beyond enhanced privacy, clients gain greater control over their treatment, are not required to receive a formal diagnosis, and experience no interference in therapeutic decisions. This approach enables us to focus entirely on our clients’ well-being rather than on paperwork and documentation.
  • Is therapy confidential?
Yes — therapy is completely confidential. What you share in session stays between us. There are a few specific exceptions required by law (such as safety concerns or abuse involving minors or vulnerable adults), and I’ll go over those in detail during our first session so there are no surprises. If you would like me to speak with anyone else involved in your care — such as a doctor, psychiatrist, school counselor, or family member — I can do so only with your written permission. This is done through a Release of Information form and is entirely up to you. Some clients choose this for continuity of care, but it’s never required.
  • How do I know if I need individual or couples therapy?
If you’re dealing with personal issues that primarily affect you as an individual, individual therapy may be the best choice. However, if your challenges are centered around your relationship, couples therapy can help you and your partner work together to address those concerns. We can discuss your specific situation during an initial consultation to determine the best approach.
  • What should I do if I feel like therapy isn’t working? Can I switch therapists if I’m not comfortable?
It’s important that you feel comfortable, and that therapy is meeting your needs. If you ever feel like therapy isn’t working, please bring it up during our sessions so we can explore any obstacles or adjust our approach. If you feel it’s not the right fit, I fully support your decision to seek another therapist, and I can assist you in finding someone who may be better suited to your needs.
  • What if my teenager doesn't want to go to thearpy?
This is a common and completely valid concern. I don’t believe in forcing therapy — if a teen feels pressured, it can create a negative association and make it harder for them to seek support in the future. Instead, I aim to make therapy something they can turn to when they’re ready, whether that’s now or down the line. If your teen is hesitant, one helpful approach is to explore a few different therapists together. You might gather a few websites, bios, or photos of therapists who work with teens and let your child choose who they'd feel most comfortable meeting with for a first session. Giving them some agency in the process can help ease resistance. In my practice, when a teen is unsure about therapy, I focus first on building rapport — and I typically do this one-on-one, without the parent in the room, for the first several sessions. Once I’ve earned their trust and they feel safe opening up, I’ll invite the parent to join us so the teen can share (in their own words) what we’ve been working on. In my experience, this gradual approach works best — but I also understand that it may not be the right fit for every family. If you’re unsure how to proceed, feel free to reach out. I’m happy to talk through options and help you determine what might work best for your teen and your family dynamic.
  • Do you provide crisis or emergency services?
While I do provide support for urgent issues during our scheduled sessions, I am not available for 24/7 crisis or emergency services. If you or your teen is experiencing a mental health crisis, please contact emergency services, go to your nearest emergency room, or reach out to the Mobile Crisis Unit at (844) 395–4432 if you are in Collier, Lee, Charlotte, Hendry, or Glades counties. The Mobile Crisis Unit can dispatch a licensed therapist to your location within the hour to assess the situation and help de-escalate the crisis. You can learn more about their services at: https://progressandexcellence.com/
  • How do you handle cancellations or missed appointments?
I understand that life can be unpredictable. If you need to cancel or reschedule an appointment, please notify me at least 24 hours in advance. Cancellations made with less than 24 hours’ notice are subject to a late cancellation fee, and missed appointments without notice are billed at the full session fee. To make things easier, you’ll receive a reminder text or email 48 hours before your scheduled appointment, which includes a direct link to cancel or reschedule. This link remains active until the 24-hour mark, allowing you to make changes without needing to reach out directly.
  • How do I prepare for my therapy sessions?
There’s no specific preparation needed for therapy sessions. However, it can be helpful to think about any issues, feelings, or thoughts you’d like to discuss. Bringing a list of topics or questions can also ensure that we cover what’s most important to you during our time together. Ultimately, just come as you are—therapy is a space for you to explore and work through whatever is on your mind.

If you're considering therapy, I’m so glad you’re here. Whether you’re feeling overwhelmed, navigating a transition, or simply curious about what support could look like, the first step is often the hardest — and you’ve already taken it.
